Frequently Asked QuestionsThe Programme- What are the objectives of the programme?
ETP Japan and ETP Korea aim to strengthen the position of European companies in the Japanese and Korean markets, respectively. In its 25 years of existence, the Executive Training Programme has been successful and has created a pool of European executives able to work effectively in Japan or Korea.
Is this a practical training?
Yes, in that it combines intensive language courses and seminars on general business topics with entirely practical application of this knowledge during the company internships.
The Requirements- Is the programme limited to employees in leading positions?
No specific position is required. However, it is assumed that you will have an important role in the Japanese or Korean business of your company after ETP.
- I work for my father's small firm. Does that rule me out from acceptance to the ETP?
Family-owned businesses often do not have the problem a bigger company has in investing the required time and money in an employee who may not remain with the company after the programme. Family-owned businesses often make very good applications, provided the business case is strong.
- Is ETP more applicable to manufacturing companies than it is to professional services or services?
ETP can be effective for any sector: private or public, limited company, partnership or family ownership. The professions have sent quite a few people - but bear in mind that loss of fee income must be calculated as part of the programme's cost. That said, they do participate and make money out of it.
- Can I apply to the programme if there is no company sponsoring me?
Definitely not. Above all, ETP is a programme for enhancing European companies' business relations with Japan or Korea. You must be employed in a company that sponsors you for the duration of the programme.
- I am only 22 years-old. Am I eligible?
Your age is more a reference than a strict limit. Whether you are under 22 or over 50 years-old, what really counts is your professional background and motivation. The ETP has had both young and more senior participants who do extremely well.
- Does the ETP accept female participants?
The ETP encourages applications by women. European women who have completed the ETP are first-class executives, are as well-respected as their European male counterparts in Japan or Korea.
